Description
Fresh, flavorful salsa that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups chopped tomatoes (or 28-ounce can diced tomatoes)
- ¼ small onion
- ⅓ cup fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 small jalapeno pepper (seeds removed)
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon sugar
Instructions
- Chop the tomatoes and place them over a strainer for 5 minutes. This helps to drain some of the liquid, so the salsa is not too wet. Discard the liquid.
- Add the tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients to a blender or food processor. Do short pulses until blended to your desired consistency.
- Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator for up to one week. Enjoy!
Notes
For a smoother salsa, blend longer or strain the mixture again after blending. Fresh lime juice makes a big difference; avoid bottled lime juice if possible.
